Remember those 100 books we purchased from the Grenada Association of Retired Persons, as part of their drive to promoting literacy? Well, we had the honor of donating them to Grenada Community Library and Resource Centre. Since the passage of hurricane Ivan and the destruction of the national library, Grenada was left without a library. Grenada Community Library and Resource Centre Inc. was created in response to the lack of access to books and literature in St George’s, Grenada. Yesterday, we were pleased to be a part of the launch and relocation of the library to its new home, #7 Lucas Street, St. George’s.
Grenada Community Library and Resource Centre Inc. is a non-profit and relies on the help of the public. If you don’t have money, you can give your time or you can spread the word. Membership is open to all, just stop by and register and walk out with your first book. Let’s all do our bit to promote and support literacy in Grenada.
